Flatbush Food Co-op

We were asked by a co-op consultancy (CDS Consulting Co-op) to collaborate as Flatbush prepared to launch its new patronage refund membership model. We started by helping them gather and assess, from the wide array offered by individual co-ops across the US, which benefits they would offer their members/owners. Then we helped them describe those benefits in both new member documents and a general member-owner brochure.

Friends of the Mississippi River

Starting with the creation of an icon for a new program that fits the style of their existing set of graphics, we have built the scope of our partnership with FMR during recent years. One of the key initiatives has been to simplify and unify elements of the brand identity that was created for them by another design firm. As an extension of that work, we have developed a 4 page report to stakeholders, a PowerPoint template, the 2017 anual report, and a font that complements the rough hewn style of their family of icons.

EdgeWork Design Build

EdgeWork Design Build is a local firm that specializes in custom house additions and renovations in the metro and in north woods cabins. They are known for their ingenuity, craftsmanship and careful project management. We worked with them to develop a new brand presence that extended from the new logo and stationery to their website.

Metropolitan Regional Arts Council

We were delighted when MRAC's communications director contacted us to discuss creating a new identity for them. They serve a huge number of arts organizations throughout the metro region, and they are among their clients' most enthusiastic champions. Offering grants, extensive consulting, and advocacy they sought a welcoming, supportive brand personality. We also agreed that by setting "metro" and "arts" in boldface would make the logotype more eye-catching and easy to read.

Hope Community

After years of collaborating with Hope to create communications collateral they asked us to work with them to update their logo for their 40th Anniversary year. Initially, they wanted to retain the original design while ading a 40th Anniversary announcement. After a number of discussions and review of some exploratory sketches we agreed to create an updated logo that incoporates the existing colors and "arc" graphic. But, we saw an opportunity to make the name more prominent.

Creative Enterprise Zone graphic identity

Our firm invested in our new neighborhood by donating a significant portion of our time developing the new identity for the Creative Enterprise Zone. Our collaboration also produced directional signs for events in the Zone and window stickers for businesses and organizations that become mebers of the CEZ. We also created retractable informational and branding banners and pennant strings for declaring their presence at outdoor events.

Grass Run Farms

Visual identity, retail labeling system and packaging, identities and labeling for affiliated brands, literature for growers, customers and retailers This project started as a label design using an existing logo that the client was satisfied but not thrilled with. We suggested that even a change of font could make a significant difference. After that step, they decided they wanted to open the gates to other directions.

Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs

Identity, stationery, slogan and graphic, annual promotional literature  The Higher Education Consortium for Urban affairs has a remarkable history and mission dating back to the 1970’s. And, its name makes one grateful for acronyms that are pronounceable. HECUA serves a partnership of colleges and universities by providing opportunities in the US and a number of countries abroad for students to travel in groups to places where social change is in ferment. They work and learn alongside local teachers, community activists, students, and government officials.

Mississippi Market

Positioning statement, new identity, graphic guidelines, stationery, shelf signs, newsletter, brand icons, graphic art and store signing  Perhaps our most comprehensive branding project to date, our collaboration with Mississippi Market, spanned 8 years until they reached the point where it made sense for them to hire a staff graphic designer while the building of their third store was underway. We started with the identity, which included developing a positioning statement that differentiates their co-op natural foods market in a thriving natural foods marketplace.
